Thanksgiving 2010
As has been the case with this Fall, our Thanksgiving day didn't go exactly as planned. We had intended to drive to Iowa Thursday morning to celebrate with Eric's family and get to spend some time over the weekend at his grandparent's Christmas Tree Farm. It would have been Brecken's first trip to the farm and we had been packed for a week!! Unfortunately, with all of the health scares that have gone on lately, especially Brecken's most recent diagnosis of Walking Pneumonia, we decided to stay put and keep our germs to ourselves. As this was a last minute decision (we just went to the doctor Wednesday afternoon and found out), we were left here on Thanksgiving day.... Completely unprepared for a "proper" meal and the grocery stores all closed! We ended up going to the Wildfire for lunch and while it was a great meal, Eric was the only one to truly enjoy it. I am still unfortunately trying to cope with the loss of my gall bladder, and apparently the loss of my ability to EVER eat solid foods again! I know that this will surely pass, but my GOODNESS is it getting frustrating. My appetite isn't fully back, but even when I try to make myself eat it doesn't stay with me. Therefore, eating even a small amount for a meal pretty much equals several hours of pain and sickness to follow :( And Brecken, with his strep throat and ear infection, hasn't been eating much of anything this week. He seems to be able to get his yogurt down (Thankfully as he is currently on two different kinds of antibiotics), but otherwise says "no no" to anything he is offered. This includes both McDonalds french fries AND pizza, so clearly he isn't feeling well :(
Despite all of the set backs we have experienced as a family in the last several months, we are certainly thankful for each other. Eric and I feel blessed to have the most beautiful and charming little boy, our jobs, and supportive friends and family that rally behind us and remind us of how much we have to be thankful for when we are unable to do that ourselves. We are SOOO looking forward to a fresh (and hopefully healthy!) start of a new year and are getting anxious to flip the calendar to 2011. Until then, please enjoy a few pictures from our day....

While Mommy was looking at ads trying to decide if she would participate in Black Friday fun, Brecken took some time to point out a few toys he wanted added to his Christmas list.... P.S. Mommy decided her Black Friday involvement would take place online, in bed, wearing her jammies :)
