Not the Halloween we were planning for.....

Brecken suffered through 105 fevers for 5 days last week which was EXTREMELY scary for us! I unfortunately had more doctor and ER visits than I did days of work :( That said, I truly can't even rehash all of the details from the week as it is exhausting just thinking about it. Long story short: 105 fever..... Which once it broke dropped to 93 degrees (Yes, I'm serious. No, it wasn't an error- That was taken with 3 separate thermometers and in 3 different body locations. Yes, he really felt THAT cold.). After the fever broke, Brecken developed a rash on his torso and diaper area. Throughout the sickness, there was talk of Kawasaki's Disease but it is now thought that the had Roseola. When we were in the ER on Thursday night for the sudden rash and extreme irritability, they did a lot of blood work which confirmed that his white blood count was well below normal. We were back in the doctor's office Saturday morning for a check-in and have follow-up blood work scheduled for next Friday. Until then, Brecken is not allowed at daycare and will be laying low with Grandma Walker. As I have parent-teacher conferences this week and Eric is in Utah for work, we don't know what we would do without her! Oh, and did I mention he had double ear infection and sprouted 5 new teeth in the midst of this all? Life has been awesome for Brecken.

Throughout this all, we've tried to make life as normal as possible and have made every attempt to keep a very sick child on somewhat of a routine as we've been down this road before. One week of sickness can pave the road for weeks of trouble, and we were getting ready to start our FOURTH week of sickness! Eeeeeek! We snuck in some "normalcy" whenever possible and captured the smiles we were given :) We were planning on doing some light trick-or-treating with our neighbors, but decided against it at the last minute. We'll save it for next year!

Raking leaves

We were supposed to go to my school's Halloween party on Friday night and I was of course really bummed that we weren't able to show off our family costume :( We made a quick trip to the Eden Prairie Community Center for their "Spooky Saturday" to get Brecken out of the house and try to have some fun..... We weren't there that long and I don't know that "fun" was what Brecken was always feeling.

Nonetheless, here is the Zoo Keeper with his tiger and gorilla....

The Zoo Keeper checking things out at the Spooky Saturday Spectacular at the Eden Prairie Community Center.... Where to go first?

Throwing a ball into the bowl to win a piece of candy!

Brecken's favorite game was the "Pick A Pumpkin" game.....

Pick a pumpkin.....

Ok, I got one.... YAY me!

Giving it to someone who will trade me for a treat!! I have pumpkin#4!

When we first walked into the gym, Brecken saw this gigantic soccer ball and started screaming, "Ball, ball, ball." He tried to be really patient as we inched our way to the large ball, but once we got close it was too much to handle! He didn't understand why he had to stand in line while other kids took their turns and had a little melt down while waiting :)

Finally getting his chance to kick the soccer ball....

.... Something didn't quite go his way, and what you can't see from this picture is that he is hanging his head in shame? Embarrassment? Anger? I have no idea.... But following the hanging head of disappointment was a full blown temper tantrum where he was carried off the field and out of the way for the good girls and boys waiting in line for their turn to kick :)

Waiting for basketball.... Again, very hard to understand the "line" thing so shedding a few tears....

Worth the wait....

Picking out candy after doing such a great job shooting baskets!

There was a fun tube to crawl in to get into the play structure! Very cool!

Family photo.... Brecken was less than excited and I am positive Eric's face would look similar underneath the mask :)

Brecken's first tattoo....

This seems to be hurting more than a water tattoo should :)

Checking out his new tattoo frog :)

So cool.

Decorating a "Brecken" bag...

Brecken even got to sit in the fire truck at Spooky Saturday, which he LOVED!

Cuddling with Grandma!!
