Big Boy Bed

Brecken has officially slept in his big boy bed for a whole night.... Without a peep and he even slept in :) It was a completely unplanned last-minute decision on our part, and to be honest, we didn't think he would stay in bed. Maybe he was just really tired, or maybe he really is ready to be a big boy. Either way, night one outside of his crib has come and gone. Here are a few shots of him after his good night of rest in his race car bed.

I was trying to get a photo of him sleeping, which woke him up..... Oooops! Good morning Brecken!

"One thing that is really cool about my big boy bed is that I wake up and my books are RIGHT THERE ready to be read!!!"

He has started to say "keeeeeeeeeeeez" (a.k.a. "cheese") when we ask him to take a picture :)

Once he was actually awake, he just wanted to sit on his bed and read books. We thought he was going to be there all day!

Something Brecken has acquired in the last week..... Nose picking?? I don't know if he learned this from his new friends at daycare perhaps? Either way, he does the same thing every time..... Puts his little pointer finger in a nostril, wiggles it around....

... The puts his finger in the air and says "no no no no" as if he is reprimanding himself for his yucky behavior. The good news: We don't have to waste our "no no's" because he takes care of it for us. The bad news: He listens to the reprimands the same whether they are coming from his parents or himself :)

My name is Brecken and I am the CUTEST THING EVER!

Another change in Brecken's life is a switch of schools. His daycare provider is on maternity leave, so Grandma Gott stayed with him for a week and he is now in a Kindercare Center in Eden Prairie for the next 3-4 weeks. Grandma Walker will come up for a week at the end before he is scheduled to go back to Ms. Lisa. Since we still hadn't gotten around to taking his "back to school" photo for the year with his backpack, we decided we would do that. Better late than never! He is really enjoying his time at his new school and is making new friends every day. When I picked him up the first night, the teacher said that him and another boy sat next to each other for a long time that afternoon and played catch. Each time one of the boys would throw the ball to the other, they would say "ball" which was pretty cute. We hear that he loves going on nature walks, crunching in the leaves, loves to sit at the table and chair while eating his snacks/ meals, playing on all of the awesome playground equipment outside, and checking out all of the new toys. Each day he shows off what he has learned for the day and shows us what he has been playing with. He is as happy as can be when we pick him up and excitedly tells all of his friends and teacher "bye bye" on his way out. His lead teacher, Ms. Allison, says that he has transitioned perfectly and did a wonderful job for his first week at a new school!
