This week...

First off, I must apologize for my early morning post! It was intended to be a private email to my mother and must have clicked on our blog email address instead of hers when I sent it from my phone. I really do know how to spell and use the correct words, but apparently not when I haven't slept! Ha...

Yesterday was a rather turbulent day with Brecken being fussy and not really napping or eating well. I know he has been working on a molar and it has been bothering him all week.... Poor little guy is leaking drool like I've never seen before and biting on EVERYTHING! Yesterday, I caught him trying to put little PJ's ear in his mouth! Unfortunately, last night was really tough as well.... We tried teething tablets, tylenol, baby orajel, teething toys... He would just sit with his finger in his mouth and SCREAM while looking right at me :( He sure is resting up today however- He took a nap this morning that was almost 4 hours long! I would normally wake him up, but knowing how tired he must be (and since we're on summer break!), I guess I'll just go by his schedule and hope he wakes up soon with that molar having pushed through so I can have my happy little man back!

I had started this entry yesterday and never got around to posting it, so here it is:

It is hard to believe, but our first week of summer break is half over! On Monday, we had a play date with Anna Fiscus and her mommy, Chris. We went to the Eden Prairie Play Structure and had so much fun! This was Anna's first time there, so Brecken was excited to show her the ropes. She caught on in no time and was laughing and screaming in delight :) I didn't get as many pictures as I would normally take, but I was having too much fun watching the kiddos and talking to Chris (who is also a teacher excited to have summer here!)... Here are a few photos from my camera, and the link to Anna's blog with her pictures from our day...

Brecken has been "re-organizing" his own dresser drawers for months now. And rightfully so, as it seems absurd to him that his Momma would put shirts in one, shorts in another, pajamas in a third, etc. He apparently likes to see his outfits combined all into one (only after spreading them all out on the floor first of course). He has now taken to providing his helpful sorting skills to our room. This morning he reorganized my dresser and we're currently in the "throw everything on the floor so we can really see what all we have" phase, but I'm just positive he'll help put them back into drawers later:) In the mean time, he is working on the closet where he is pulling shirts off of hangers by the sleeves. Oh, why haven't I found a new home for my long-sleeve winter clothes??

Also the fact that Brecken can now reach the top of tables/ dressers/ counters is a bit daunting. What is the new approach now that "just push it back farther or up taller" no longer works? Did I mention he can (and DOES) reach the gas stove knobs and thinks the ticking of gas turning on is hilarious?? I believe I will spend some time with the Step One catalog during nap today, assessing our current Child Safety measures and what we still need to acquire!

Brecken is such a funny little dude. When he sneezes, he turns around to find me with a smile on his face, anxiously awaiting the "Bless You" that he thinks is so funny. Last night, he crouched behind the bench at our dining room table and then popped up on shaky little legs and said "Baaaa" (his version of Boo!") before laughing until his belly hurt. This went on for a good 30 minutes and I found it to be just as cute his last time of the night as I did his first.

One of Brecken's favorite things to do so far this summer is organizing Daddy's night stand. While looking through Daddy's loot on his night stand, he sat down and READ (and I do mean mindfully and with great thought READ) Eric's Sudoku book for a good 10 minutes. No joke! He turned the pages, analyzed the writing... 10 minutes! He then went to sorting other things and then came BACK TO THE SUDOKU book for another 5 minutes!

Brecken loves to climb the stairs.... Up only! When it comes to down, it's basically a free fall with no acknowledgement or thought that he could possibly get hurt. In fact, he thinks it is funny.

Brecken also loves playing basketball and likes to throw anything and everything. He grunts whenever he throws and has quite the arm! He has a few different basketball hoops and it is cute to watch him figure out which balls will work with which hoops. He is ALL BOY!

One of my projects for the summer is getting Brecken's big room ready. We are going to do a "Vroom Vroom" theme and we found bedding at Target a few months ago that we really liked. We have been anxiously waiting to see if they would go on sale and Target finally clearanced them which was the excitement of our day!! I know, I know... Clearanced bedding and "excitement of the day" are two things I never thought I would say in the same sentence. What does this mean?? I'm old perhaps? Or maybe that I just love being a mommy so much that I am fine with my life being a lot different than I ever thought it would be :)

B's favorite foods are currently cottage cheese, cheese puffs (from Chinese restaurants), and pizza... Though he continues to eat anything and everything without too much disagreement :)

I see Brecken has found his way into my sock drawer and has learned how to separate the two rolled socks, so this is my cue to save this post for a later date.

A few pictures from our afternoon outside...

Wagon rides are fun!

One last picture for the post... Playing in our "kid room"... A hot spot for the summer!
