Incase anyone is wondering, 7 months is too young for popcorn....

I typically like to reserve my "bad parent" stories for either my mom (who can't judge me because, well, she is my mother and will love me no matter what stupid thing I do), and for my friend Lissa (we swap "we're the worst parent ever" stories and they help us cancel out one another's stories and therefore not feel like we're THE WORST). However, I thought I'd pass this one along to the blog world. Remember, I've already given myself the title of "worst parent ever" for this, so please don't cast further judgement and criticism :(

I had meetings today for school and no kiddos, so decided that I would give Brecken a few minutes of play time with mom this morning instead of rushing him right into the car seat for our commute to daycare/ work. We were all dressed, already had a bottle, and were playing.... The morning was great! Right before we left, I pulled Brecken up onto my lap to check my email one last time when he reached over and grabbed a "puff." Normally I might not let him eat a puff that he just found laying somewhere as I would have no idea how long it has been there and what germs are on it (probably just Brecken slobber germs from a previous meal, but still....), however when he did such a great job of picking it up and getting it into his mouth by himself, I could hardly take it away as that is something that we have been working on. He chews it, loves it, and I think that is the end of the puff..... Little did I know, the "puff" was soon going to become the newest chapter in the critically acclaimed "April is the Worst Parent Ever" best seller. Within seconds, Brecken starts to gag and act like he was going to throw up.... Obviously not a normal response as he loves his puffs. He continues to gag and I'm confused as to what is causing this reaction?? Granted it might have day old slobber on it at best, but come on, in a few years he'll be eating worms and dirt and who knows what else! I do a finger sweep and he starts coughing and eventually gags out a little chunk. This chunk strikes me as odd because it resembles a piece of popcorn.... How did a puff turn into a piece of popcorn?? And then it hits me, UH OH, Brecken didn't eat a puff at all. Poor little guy..... Needless to say, he did NOT enjoy the popcorn and we will NOT be trying it again anytime soon. The good news: Brecken survived another day with me as his momma. I still don't understand how you have to take a test to drive a car, study for 8 years to be a doctor, and yet they just hand over a living, breathing human being to ANYONE!?!?! Please don't call the authorities.... I promise that I love this little guy with all my heart and despite my moments of "bad parenting" I would never do anything to harm him!
