Wow, it has been awhile!!
Hello blog world..... Has it really been TWO WEEKS since an update?? Wowsers. My apologies! Lots has gone on in that time frame so I'll try to update with at least the highlights. We've had play dates, started house projects, cleaned closets, started daycare, started teaching...... Here we go with pictures!!
Our little cutie at 7 months. HOLY COW, has he grown and changed since we first brought him home from the hospital at two weeks old! He is now officially over 20 pounds and getting taller each day. He still loves to eat, loves to sleep, enjoys books and his many toys and is really interested in his 4-legged siblings.... Even if they would prefer his interest to be directed elsewhere :) He is getting along GREAT at his daycare and Miss Lisa says he is a great baby. He is also a rockstar napper..... For her anyway! When he was daycare full days last week while Mommy set her classroom up, he would take a 2-3 hour morning nap and a 2 hour afternoon nap. This past week, now that Mom's class is up and running, he is with Miss Lisa in the morning and Mom in the afternoon.... Which has translated to still a good nap in the morning and then two 30-minute naps in the afternoon. Grrrrrrrrrr. Let's hope we can work that out so I can get my lesson planning done!
He takes after his momma in terms of talking and is QUITE the communicator. He says "Dada" in English, but we have otherwise been able to decipher his code for other words :) Here he is just talking up a storm!
Here is Brecken playing his version of Rock Band..... This little toy has a piano, a drum set, a guitar, AND a microphone and he loves them all. He especially loves it when Mommy grabs the microphone (which actually works by the way) and starts rocking out to the song that he is playing. He laughs and laughs and laughs.... And Daddy always tries to sneak the video camera to get footage but so far I've been able to avoid being filmed. Sorry guys, but my singing talent is reserved for Brecken alone :)
Ummmm.... Do I need to say anything other than LAZY?!?! A one-handed bottle hold? Impressive, but still very very VERY lazy.
Last Saturday afternoon, Brecken went to a play date with his friend Anna, who is just two weeks older than him. Thankfully, the kiddos let their parents stay and have fun too so it was a good afternoon/ evening for us all! When we first arrived at Anna's house, Brecken was sound asleep in his car seat. We brought him in and set his car seat on the floor and Anna wheeled it over to him right away. She peered into his car seat, starting lifting blankets and thought it was SO funny that he was sleeping..... And apparently NOT AT ALL ACCEPTABLE as Brecken shouldn't be sleeping on their play date. She did have a valid point :) After some coercion on Anna's part, Brecken finally got up and was ready to play. Anna was SO nice in sharing all of her fun toys with Brecken and I am pretty sure that he put each and every one in his mouth! He watched Anna in amazement as she crawled circles around him, pulled herself up to furniture and picked her own toys out of her toy basket. What a big girl! Brecken was of course just fine watching his friend and staying in one place. Us parents had some Papa Murphy pizza (YUM!) and enjoyed our little ones. We look forward to our next day of fun together with the Fiscus family!!
Last Sunday, Eric started a little house project that was supposed to take "just an hour tops" and, well..... Let's just say it's a week later and there is much more involved than originally planned! That is the way projects seem to go in this house! We were going to put a closet door in our entry way, and low and behold, we found out that NONE of our closet doors are of standard size. This means expensive custom cut doors or a lot of work to make them work. We went with option B so here is Brecken helping Daddy remove some dry wall to enlarge the opening....
We were trying to get Brecken to hold on to his little hammer while Daddy held on to his hammer. As you can tell, Brecken had NO interest in his own :)
Ooooooh, I think we need THIS tool Daddy!
I have my power drill ready to go Dad!
One more cute picture of our little guy....
Lastly, we would like to recommend to everyone to add "Clean out your pantry" to your bi-annual calendar. It has unfortunately been awhile since we've done ours and I was shocked and devastated at all of the expired food when I did it last Saturday. Booooooooo. Let this picture serve as inspiration to check your goods!
I have a few videos to upload, but will have to wait until later when I am on that computer!
