Brecken's first Christmas!

So many stories and pictures from Christmas, and just the thought of it is so daunting that I keep putting it off! I've finally come to the conclusion that something is better than nothing, so I will keep the stories to a minimum and try to give you the highlights.

As you all know, the Midwest was blasted with a winter storm like no other and we were nervous that Brecken's first Christmas would be spent stuck in the house with only Mom and Dad. Luckily for him, we were able to get where we needed to go and didn't miss a single Christmas! We left for Ollie, Iowa on Wednesday afternoon to spend Christmas day with my family.... Then turned back around to have the Walker Christmas here in Minnesota on Saturday. The snow and ice might have slowed us down a bit, but we didn't let it ruin anything!!

We of course took pictures in front of our tree before we left and here are some others taken from the Gott Christmas in Ollie....

Is that a "Brecken" ornament on Grandma's tree??

Just as we were getting ready to open gifts, Brecken took a snooze. He must have known that his cousin Emma would want to open all of her presents first and he would be waiting anyway, so thought he should rest up :) He woke up just in time to try Grandpa's new orange hunting hat on....

For the most part, Brecken wasn't really all that into opening presents. He was interested once he saw something come out of the bag or box and occasionally liked to snack on the paper.... But he was otherwise more into watching his cousins jump around.

Yum, yum... Paper!

What is this I see??

Is that what I think it is??? An Iowa Hawkeye sippy cup?!?!

Oh good, I am SOOOOO thirsty..... Hey, where's the milk!?!?!?!?!

Oooooh, this box looks fun....

Yay socks!

a.k.a. "Chew toy"

New jammies....

Checking out his stocking at Grandma & Grandpa's... Notice how Brecken's stocking also says "Jr." on it?? It's hard to believe that that is what we were calling him just a year ago.... Before we knew he would be a Brecken and before we could imagine how much we would love him!

A VERY fun toy from Grandma & Grandpa

After the gifts, we had a great meal and a fun time hanging out and talking. As I knew we would all be having ham, I found some "Ham & Ham Gravy" for Brecken so he could eat the same thing as us! I was super excited about him trying a meat for the first time... Until I opened the can. Ewie!!!!!!!! Yuck! Imagine the worst dirty diaper ever and then multiply it by a milk filled spit up rag that has sat in the sun for 3 months and you still wouldn't have the smell that filled the house when the little Ham bottle popped open. I thought for sure he would revolt...

Here is a picture before he took his first bite of smelly ham....

... and after. As you can tell, our little champion eater doesn't seem to be picky in the least. In fact, he LOVED his ham!

Daddy's new thing is making Brecken lick the lids of his fruits & veggies as to teach him not to be wasteful. Ummmm, I don't think you can actually be a member of the "clean plate club" until you eat off a plate, right? Brecken is happy to eat the remainder and it's funny to watch.

A family photo.... More to come soon!
