2 nights of Santa in a row!
After an odd week, we are happy to say that we've had a great weekend! Eric and I both fell EXTREMELY ill this week with food poisoning which knocked us out of commission. We were so worthless as parents on Thursday... Both home from work, unable to leave the bathroom for any extended period of time, couldn't keep our eyes open from exhaustion and sickness and the question we kept trying to answer was IF WE CAN'T TAKE CARE OF OURSELVES RIGHT NOW, WHO IS GOING TO TAKE CARE OF BRECKEN?!?!?! Poor Brecken basically babysat for himself all day which we felt AWFUL about but honestly couldn't do ANYTHING to change it. He was actually really great given the situation- He entertained himself in his walker for a long time while we laid in bed... Then I moved him to the floor and sat him in the middle of lots of toys and drifted back asleep while he played. I know, BAD MOM. He took long naps, played independently and held his own bottle in his high chair to feed himself to make our jobs easier. I promised him if he could help us get through the day alive we would make it up to him when we were better... And we did!
We dropped Brecken off at Aunt Jill and Uncle Matt's house on Thursday afternoon so we could go to Urgent Care. While I was getting pumped with two bags of IV fluids, Brecken was taking a field trip to see Santa with his cousins Michael and Julia! How fun! It made me so happy to see the picture and helped me feel less guilty about sucking as a parent earlier in the day. B ended up staying all night with Matt & Jill and we picked him up on Friday morning. I was still pretty out of it most of Friday but woke up feeling much better today.
Uncle Aaron drove from Green Bay last night to spend the weekend with us and got to be a part of Brecken's second visit to Santa at the Mall of America! It's probably safe to say that I was more excited about the Santa picture than Brecken, and Eric and Aaron were just embarrassed at how excited I was :) Oh, and when we were walking through the mall, we got to meet Dora! We took a picture with her to show Brecken's cousin Emma because she LOVES Dora!
Brecken has been enjoying some new foods, via his little nibbler net that holds whole foods so he can suck on them without choking. He's had a banana and some frozen mangos and really loves this thing!!
