What a week.... And it's only Tuesday!!

Brecken's cold continued to get worse through the weekend and by Monday morning his coughs were more like hacking sounds and he was beginning to wheeze. To say that each little cough broke my heart is an understatement. Eric took him to the doctor Monday morning and B ended up having to do have a breathing treatment because his lungs didn't sound clear :( When Eric emailed me the pictures, I immediately started crying :( :( :( :( :( The doctor said Brecken has bronchitis and we are now the not-so-proud owners of one very cute "penguin" nebulizer (with matching igloo carrying care- quite fun actually) and have to give Brecken breathing treatments every 4 hours at least through the week. His wheezing and coughing unfortunately weren't better through the night so we had to take him back to his doctor again this morning.

Here is the good news:

1.) His sickness hasn't affected his sleeping in the least and he has now been sleeping through the night successfully for almost a month now! Seems like just yesterday that we thought we'd never get to this point and we were VERY nervous that his first sickness would put us back at square one. Thank God (and knock on wood!) that hasn't been the case. We have been hesitant to even tell people that he's been sleeping through the night because we didn't want to jinx ourselves.... Let's hope I'm not doing just that right now!

2.) He is still the happiest little thing, despite the bronchitis and breathing treatments and wheezing and terrible cough. He loves his activity mat, swings his feet all around on his blanket, flirts with all the nurses and laughs and smiles at the doctor when he checks him over :)

He's been working hard on rolling over, but still hasn't conquered that milestone. The doctor keeps reminding us that his corrected age is only 2 months, so not to get ahead of ourselves! He'll do things on his own time, and whenever he does them will be perfect! He's also gained almost a full pound just in the last week. He is up to 15 pounds 6 ounces at last weigh in :)

Last Saturday brought another Hawkeye victory and even though we weren't at the game, we dressed in black & gold and watched from our livingroom.....

Check out the cool "Herky" shoes that Brecken's cousin Michael is letting him borrow!

I went outside for a little bit and left Eric in charge of watching Brecken for awhile. When I came back inside, this is what I walked into:

On Saturday night, we had Matt, Jill, Michael & Julia over for "Auntie April Daycare Family Fun Fest". We had a fun pizza party with ice cream sundaes for dessert. We even had a blow up castle jumper with balls!!!! While Michael and Julia seemed to enjoy it....

... You can see that little Brecken did NOT enjoy this as a form of entertainment. Maybe someday!

Playing in the park with cousin Julia...

And lastly, getting his first breathing treatment at the doctor's office with Daddy :(

As long as Brecken is asleep, the breathing treatments aren't that bad. When he awake, however, it's a whole different story! He doesn't love it, but does his best to put up with it. The saddest thing was this morning when he finally stopped fighting it... I looked down and through the mask I saw that he was sticking his bottom lip out to show me he was sad. No tears, no screaming... Just a bottom lip. Heartbreaking.
