Big Boy Bed or Bust!

Brecken was put back into a crib around 8am on Thursday and has now been on his own to maintain his body temp for well over 24 hours.  We are happy to report that he's doing a great job!  His temp has been borderline today, but still good enough to stay in the crib.  Today has been a very busy day for the little man between his feedings (he's getting better at eating on his own each day, but still relies on his tube feedings mostly), and his bath.  The whole "naked baby in a bath of water" thing... Let's just say Brecken could live without it.  Here is a picture of him NOT loving his bathtime with Mom :)

After his bath, we bundled him back in his blankets and then I held him over the bathtub to wash just his hair.  He LOVES getting his hair washed and just looks up at me with big eyes and the occasional smile... He looks very curious and takes the time out in the open to look around and take in his surroundings.

Time to head back up for his 3pm feeding... Yay!!  He's a precious little guy and is developing his own personality which has been fun to watch.  He made his first decision a few days ago and it hit me how crazy it is that he is a real person who will have a lifetime of choice in front of him.  His first decision wasn't life changing, but he made it on his own and I had to take a second to think how spectacular that was..... He had been issued the standard "newborn hospital pacifier" and hadn't really given it a ton of interest.  They want preemies to ues a pacifier to help build their sucking reflex so that he is strong enough to eat from a bottle and feed himself.  After one of the nurses noticed he didn't seem too into it, she got him a NUK (a different kind) and he WENT TO TOWN!!  He decided on his own that he liked the NUK better than the other pacifier.  Is it insane that I think it's so cool of him to choose by himself??
